Q: 

How much is membership and how long will it be active?

A: 

  • Membership is $15 a year and is active from June to May of each year.

Q: 

What benefits do I receive from the $15 membership fee?

A:  

  • Access to OLLI classes at UAH

  • Ten newsletters and three catalogs a year

  • Attendance to OLLI socials and special events

  • Wednesday Bonuses without having to register

  • Access to the UAH library and book store

  • Discount at the UAH Fitness Center

  • Subscription to OLLI e-mail news

  • Local industrial tours

  • UAH scheduled events calendar

  • And many more opportunities

Q: 

What is the difference between the $15 membership fee and the $65 term registration fee?

A: 

  • The $15 membership fee is only for membership to OLLI, which gives you all the benefits listed above. This fee covers the cost of newsletters, supplies, course copying fees, most socials, facility rental, and much more.


  • The $65 registration fee is charged by UAH each term in order to take OLLI classes. This registration fee covers costs such as staff support, overhead, utilities, various coping costs, parking, and audio/visual equipment.

Q: 

How many courses may I take?

A: 

  • You may take as many courses as your schedule will permit you to attend.

Q: 

Who teaches the courses?

A: 

  • All instructors are volunteers who are knowledgeable in the topics they teach.

  • All courses are subject to the approval of the Curriculum Committee and the Director of Continuing Education.

Q: 

May I invite a friend to sit in on a class?

A: 

  • You may request permission from the class facilitator and the instructor for your guest to attend a class.

  • If your guest wants to attend more than one class he/she is expected to register.

Q: 

How long does each term last?

A: 

  • Fall and winter terms last eight weeks and spring lasts six weeks.

Q: 

How old do you have to be to join?

A: 

  • There is no set minimum age, but most members are retirees over 50.

Q: 

Why couldn't I get the course I wanted?

A: 

  • Because of classroom size or instructor requirements, attendance may be limited to a set number of students.

  • If the course is filled, your name will be placed on a wait-list.

Q: 

Can I get a refund if I decide to withdraw from my classes?

A: 

  • You may get a tuition refund if you have registered for only one class and that class is filled when your registration is received. You will be given the option to go on the wait list for the class to see if an opening develops or you may request a refund of your tuition.
